No. 12 - Vancouver, BC, Canada to Kowloon, Hong Kong
Dated 31 October, 1941, this cover was sent to the Vancouver Censor Office where an "EXAMINED BY/DB/C. 252" closer label was attached. It was then sent to the Vancouver Post Office where a "MAIL SERVICE SUSPENDED" hand stamp and a "RETURN/TO/WRITER" hand stamp were applied. The cover was then returned to the writer.
During the Fall of 1941, war with Japan seemed imminent. Since this cover was being sent by surface mail, it is possible that it was already on board a ship when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbour on 07 December, 1941. In any event, if it made it out of Canada, it didn't make it far.
