No. 11 - Hamilton, Ontario, Canada to Paris, France
Dated 18 December, 1940, this cover was sent to the Ottawa Censor Office where an "EXAMINED BY CENSOR 78" hand stamp was applied. An oval "Canadian Postal Censorship/Ottawa, - Ont." hand stamp was applied on 13 January, 1941. The cover was then sent to the Ottawa Post Office where a two line "MAIL SERVICE SUSPENDED/SERVICE SUSPENDU" was applied and the cover returned to its sender.
This cover never left Canada. By this time, Canadian Postal Authorities were well aware of the German prohibition with regard to mail addressed to Occupied France.
