Suspended Mail

Dated 16 December, 1940, travelling by surface mail, this cover was intercepted at Bermuda by the British Censor Office. It was examined by Examiner #5 023 who applied a PC 90 closer label and sent it on its way to Marseilles, France, There a "RETOUR A L'ENVOYER/RELATIONS POSTALES/INTERROMPUE 5" (Return to Sender/Postal Service/Suspended) hand stamp was applied and the cover returned to the USA, arriving on 21 July, 1941.

This cover was addressed to Paris in the Occupied Zone and Germany didn't allow most mail to pass between Unoccupied and Occupied France.
