No. 19 - Naval Air Station Trinidad to Saskatoon, Sask., Canada
Dated 09 February, 1942, this cover was posted at the U.S. Naval Air Station on the Island of Trinidad. The U.S. Naval Censor applied their circular "PASS1~D BY/NAVAL CENSOR" hand stamp. The cover was detained for reasons unknown and released by the Office of Naval Intelligence on 05 September, 1945.
NAS Trinidad was one of the bases that the U.S. gained through the lend lease deal, destroyers for bases, made with the British in 1940. The base was still under construction at the time of mailing, with a large non-American work force on site.
