It was examined by Examiner #43 89 who applied a PC 90 closer label and detained it. It was returned as per machine cancel "RETURN/TO SENDER/SERVICE SUSPENDED/NEW YORK, N.Y/JUL 26/1942"
This cover was detained in Bermuda due to the declaration of war on the USA by Germany on 11 December, 1941. An immediate suspension of mail was imposed and the British Government, through its censor operation in Bermuda, was pleased to assist.
