Three Early Hibben Picture Post Cards

One of my collections consists of Numeral-Issue era (1898 to 1903) used Canadian view post cards. I especially like B.C. views. Here are two Vancouver Island cards that I obtained recently—both published by T.N. Hibben & Co. of Victoria (identified by the characteristic printing of the address side and by the company name in small letters left of the views).

The first card was mailed at Victoria on April 1, 1903. It shows Camping Scenes at Cadboro Bay and Camping Scenes near Victoria, B.C. It is listed in the book Picture Postcards Published by T.N. Hibben & Co. compiled by Malcolm Jones and Jack Wallace.

The second card is another early Hibben card; it is not listed in my edition of the Jones-Wallace catalogue. It is another multi-view Victoria, B.C. card, showing 24th May Races, H.M. Ships, Olympic Ranges and Victoria Arm. It was mailed at Esquimalt on April 17, 1903.

These cards were published some time in the first five years of picture postcards of Victoria.

Firmin Wyndels just submitted this scan of a related Hibben card with views of Esquimalt, Victoria from the New Government Buildings, and James Bay. It was mailed to Germany at Chemainus on May 30, 1900. Not in Jones-Wallace.
