Under The Covers – Canadian Mail Sent via the Empire Air Mail Scheme, 1938 – 1939

Under The Covers is a monthly Zoom session sponsored by the Postal History Society of Canada. Attendance is free and open to all, but you must register at phscpresentation@gmail.com to obtain the Zoom link.

This month’s topic is “Canadian Mail Sent via the Empire Air Mail Scheme, 1938 – 1939” presented by Gary Steele. All first-class mail to certain Empire countries was carried by air beyond England as the normal means of conveyance and was inaugurated by Great Britain on June 29, 1937. On February 23, 1938 the second stage was implemented, when service was also extended to Canadian mail and this presentation explains how this took effect.

Tuesday, January 16 at 3:00 pm Pacific, 6:00 pm Eastern.

The event is finished.
